For people who read the “Pooptastrophe” review from 2016, the memory of the homeowner’s fate waking up to discover that their Roomba had sprayed puppy cats around the house has remained very intense. Roomba has promised a Pet Owner Official Promise (POOP) that will eliminate such situations by updating the products’ software to identify and again avoid feces.

The new update helps avoid pets disasters

The company announced the software update announcement when they announced the Roomba j7 + Robot Vacuum model. The company shared that the design feature uses artificial intelligence to keep an eye on any cones and other smelly obstacles and will force it to change direction if the poo is on its way.

On its website, iRobot states: “Your home never twice looks the same as the Roomba j7 + robot vacuum cleaner is designed to handle. Using PrecisionVision Navigation, it identifies and avoids obstacles such as animal accidents and charging cables in real time. It even sends you a picture of what it encounters, so you are always in the loop of your home. ”

The owner who woke up to the unfortunate sight, Jesse Newton, would have greatly benefited from this feature after his puppy Evie pooped on a rug. That poor puppy had no idea this little faux pas (faux poo?) Would cause such a disaster.

The company decided that the new feature was in order

Newton shared in a post about the event: “Why, friends, it’s because our Roomba is running at. 1:30 every night while we sleep. And it found the garbage. And then Pooptastrophe begins. Poohpocalypse. The popping. ”

He describes Roomba running over the cone and then continuing to leave “25-foot poop paths all over the house” that came out over furniture and walls.

He went on to say that when he discovered the mess, he threw Roomba into a hot tub, which effectively ruined its life. Fortunately, he had a guarantee.

He said:

“You finally decide to call the place where you bought it. The place called Hammacher Schlemmer. They have a fun name, but they have a great guarantee. They claim it is for life and it is for some reason. So I called them and told them the truth. My Roomba found dog slings and unleashed almost World War III. And do you know what they did? They offered to replace it. ”

No wonder they added the new software update.
