screen protector turns iPhone, Galaxy and Pixel screens into 3D | Gadget theory

Who can forget to go to the cinema to watch the latest 3D movie with these red and blue cardboard glasses? It seemed like we were living in the future and the cinema was forever changed. How could it be better than that?

Well… we were a little wrong thinking this was the best in 3D. Soon after, new and improved 3D glasses were made, so now we looked like hipsters watching 3D movies in theaters. It was always an incredible feat, as the quality improved dramatically and the blue and red plastic filters that impaired our vision are gone.

Who could have imagined back then that we would eventually have portable devices that could also show us our favorite 3D movie right in the palms of our hands? Believe it or not, this is the level we have reached. All it takes is a simple and affordable screen protector.

Yes, it’s true. Something you would probably already have on your phone can turn it from a regular smartphone (or tablet) into a 3D movie watching experience. The Lucid mobile app has designed a screen protector that makes any screen 3D. The way it works is that it is a special lenticular screen protector called Holoscreen which works in conjunction with the application developed by Lucid.

And don’t worry, it doesn’t affect the way you view anything else on your phone, so you won’t see your emails or texts in 3D. It does, however, open up a whole new world of entertaining 3D possibilities. One thing to note is that your phone must have dual rear cameras for the technology to work.

The screen protector costs around $ 40 and works on Galaxy, Pixel, and iPhone, so no one will be left out of the 3D experience. The screen protector is slated for release sometime in the summer, so keep your eyes peeled!
